I sometimes wonder why these people have access to any technology whatsoever given their obvious lack of grey matter.....the term 'Smartphone' is a complete oxymoron to their type....

you need to remember that there is a difference between being academic - passing exams, and knowing a topic in depth, and being intelligent. I work with some really nice colleges who are hold doctorates, but don't necessarily see what to me seems obvious. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

How much intelligence do you need to decide to climb Britain's highest mountain and think "i wonder what the weather is going to be like ?"

I also spent my life working with academics, mainly science graduates (some with pHDs) in my case and the vast majority were/are very sensible and safety conscious. To get 4 "idiots" (sic) on top of Ben Nevis in a severe winter storm is quite an achievement too, but not a laudable one. Jules

I have a PhD in physics but I also have a O Level Woodwork which has actually proved to be my most useful qualification. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

On similar lines, I work with the Ambulance Service and you'd think most of the road crews would have some intelligence, needed to save lives etc. How many times do they call up and say the washer bottle lights on, what to do?

Also very much more likely to have performance road tyres fitted rather than all weather or M&S, we had a loan X3 which was fitted with Continental Sport Contact......very slick and grippy.......on tarmac. Regards

My old 3 series came with BMW's awful runflat tyres. The rubber was way too hard in cold weather, so grip was lost very easily especially with 540nm torque.
Changing to normal winter tyres transformed the car so much I enjoyed driving it in the snow. Jules

I didn't know that Marks and Spencers did tyres.
