New Car - A Query??

Hi,

Had my Freelander ( i6 HSE) 3.2a week now - haven't stopped smiling.

Raining today and decided to look at the handbook to check "automatic wiper function" but... the pictures in the book don't seem to match the stalk in my car and it makes no mention of this function at all - maybe I'm just not reading it right but...

With this function:

a) What symbol is there on the stalk??

b) Is it just a single wipe function when it senses rain or will wiper speed increase with rain intensity.

Thanks.

Rangerider

(PS on previous forums I've gone by the name of "Dumb Tony" - you can see why!!)

If I recall correctly there is no symbol on the wiper stalk.

To engage automatic wiper simply move the wiper stalk to the first position. Speed and frequency of wipe is related to amount of water speed increasing as amount of water increases.

Hi,

push the wiper stalk all the way down and then back up one 'click', it's now in auto. You can also adjust the sensitivity by 'twisting' the ring (cant think of a better word!) on the same stalk. All the way around/up = max sensitivity.

The above makes perfect sense to me , however , my mates just come and looked and says it sounds gibberish!

Best i can do, sorry! Thumbs Up Baltic blue XS - Alpaca Leather - 18" HSE wheels.

I got a handbook supplement (a few pages of B&W printing) with my 09MY car when new, which updates the description to what is on the stalks.

Description above is correct - just think of poistion 1 (up from off) as your intermittent wipe but the adjustment is for sensitivity to rain rather than a fixed frequency of wipes. Works OK for me but even on the least sensitive setting it sems to want more wipes than I do - still, better too many than to few! If it's just a bit of drizzle I sometime use the flick wipe (spring loaded down from off) instead. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
Gone... 2008 (09MY) XS Td4 Manual Stornaway Grey

......Just as a miner aside, when I was mooching about in October and speaking to our local LR dealer to buy a new FL2, I asked what the ratio of petrol to diesel was in sales.

He said they hadn't sold one?!

Hence I bought an oil burner

Anyone any idea of how many V6's there are out there on UK roads? Can Freel2 data be analysed?? Out on the road today, I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac.............

A little voice inside my head said "Don't look back, you can never look back"

I saw an Ad in the paper the other day for LR. It claimed that 97% of FL2s are TD4 and thus LR can claim that their average fuel consumption across the LR range is above 30mpg, thus they are green! Very Happy Laughing 09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

The Freelander 2 is not a V6 it's an Inline 6 (Hence the i6 on the back).

I get about 20/22mog from mine which I'm happy with. It's a very smooth ride and in Sport mode - very quick off the mark. Love it!
