Out of interest, I came across this statement about the over-supply of JLR cars, and probably why I can't find a parking space in my local dealers as they are packed with used (pre-registered?) cars.

Protesters complaining about the quality of their cars have been a regular feature at JLR’s Shanghai HQ and it’s understood that JLR is awash with models on airfields in the UK that had been destined for China but can’t be sold there due to quality reasons, although no one in the company will confirm this.

Further to this, I note in the local paper today that Avonmouth Docks (where over 100,000 cars of many makes, including JLR, are stored) have asked for planning on extra acreage to store another 12,000.

I do wonder how many people buy a 'new' car which is really several months, or more, old. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I have been surprised that JLR are not having a push on petrol vehicles given that diesel is on its way out and the drop in sales. I am toying with getting a petrol DS and there are a few obviously pre registered available but quite expensive. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Lifted from Parkers web site:

Despite this, running costs for the Land Rover Discovery Sport aren't anything to get excited about. Official fuel economy for the 250hp petrol that we drove is ranges between 28.3-30.5mpg – and on our spirited driving route we saw an average figure in the mid-teens.21 Nov 2019

And

The P200 claims between 28.5-30.8mpg and, during our time of testing, we saw an indicated 23.6mpg – from a 68-mile route that consisted mostly of country lanes with an average speed of 30mph. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Our present DS was registered in September, but PDI was done late December - as was our last DS.
So the warranty runs from December, for me it's paying for a car that has 12 months depreciation, but has actually only been on the road for less than a year - extra couple of months LR warranty for free. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I had a Vauxhall Zafira several years ago (please don't judge me, I needed it for a purpose Laughing )

I nicknamed it the clown car because after every journey something either failed or fell off, but the biggest problem was the alternator.

it was 2.2 petrol, that I discovered had been made in summer 2005 but wasn't sold until a year later as a new car, so it had stood in a yard for a year unregistered. The problem was that in that year Vx changed the specs and suppliers of various components, including the alternator, so the spares recommended by registration number searches wouldn't fit. It took a very good garage to dig deep and source a correct one.

Pajero ( w____r ) well don't know much about all these " experts " but my brother in law's spent more time over a pit than over any rutted ground.

So does that make the " experts " pajeros? Whistle

I don't get why people are swapping to petrol, when all petrol, diesel and hybrids will not be available to buy new from 2030.
Unless you have to drive in city centres, diesel is still the best option for longer distance motoring.

Even Ferrari will be going straight to electric only, as it makes no sense to invest in anything else.
