Ok. Over the years I've been on here I've read loads of "noise" threads. Diffs, wheel bearings etc etc. Whines, drones etc.

All you have to do is find a mechanic with a set of chassis ears, the suspect bearing (if that's what it is) will be diagnosed within moments.

True, Nick, but I like to try and get so far myself first as I am entirely reliant on my car day in day out so often struggle to get that sort of thing done. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Likewise but there is a limit to this sort of thing, which is why I bought a set of second hand ones! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

The latest way that MOT testers are being taught to check wheel bearings is, Jack up the wheel then with one hand gripping a coil of the spring spin the wheel. Any wear in the bearing is felt as a rough vibration through the spring. Worth a try ?? |
