Swing away spare wheel carrier

Hi, does anyone know the owner or maker of the swing away spare wheel carrier. I've seen a YouTube video of it and would like to make one for mine

Lagered, that's exactly the one I've seen. Any tips, advice and measurements would be greatly appreciated. My friend will be making me one, he's pretty good at making things but would really appreciate your help 😁

I used readily available parts. The main beam, with 2" receiver, is a D3/4 NAS tow bar. The step is off of a Bedford TK truck. The nuckle joint is a WMIK machine gun mount. The wheel frame is a LR cycle mount. When buying the 5stud fixing for the wheel, buy a FORD part its half the price of a LR part.

All of which I got off of eBay or had in the workshop.

I already had a towbar fitted to the vehicle, so I raised the D3/4 towbar with a 'C' section channel. Also I fabricated a steady bar off of the rear lashing point, to stop the assembly from bending/pulling away from the vehicle when fully extended. Further I made a long M16 bolt that goes through the spare wheel and screws into an anti-vibration mount which is bolted to the tailgate door.

Good luck Wink

Thank you very much. Love what you have done with your fl2. I currently have a 40/50mm lift kit on mine and I'm saving up for some bigger all terrain tyres to go on. I've taken it off road once in its standard form and was very pleasantly surprised with what it could do. I've come from off roading discos with big lifts so was very impressed. It's meant to be my daily but couldn't resist lol

This is my work in progress

Any blacksmith or engineering shop could knock one up.

Good luck

That last one looks a bit easier to source parts and make. Again, thank you for your help

That's easy enough to weld up, I've down first year in both arc & oxy welding. There is a gas strut on the side to stop it closing too harshly. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Best to ream the towbar fixing holes, else the assembly will not sit square. like this example below.

Old thread but interesting. I'd love to ring up Britpart or similar and ask them for a machine gun mount for the rear of a Freelander 2. 🤣

This sort of thing?
