Hello all,
would anyone have some advice on modifying the Radio and Sat nav to allow use in the UK, would it entail buying complete head unit and sat nav drive?
also would a test book session be able to make the instrument pod show distance in Miles instead of Km, I have the option of buying UK instrument cluster or just getting the dial converted

only on the later model, with large center LCD in instrument panel. Not on small LCD that is for info only.

The sat nav should have a setting to change it from km to miles. According to the manual there is a preferences item (in the settings menu) where you can change it from km to miles.

In another topic on this forum Alex posted modded firmware for the instrument cluster. Some people complained it converted the display from miles to km. Here http://www.freel2.com/forum/post379571.html#379571 is explained how to convert it back from km to miles again. Maybe this trick can be used for the cluster?

Buying a UK cluster might be a safer option.

No experience of this with a FL2 but have done a lot of research into D2 V8 import from Japan & speedo/odometer is just one of many things that are subtly different. On UK/European spec cars the odometer can be changed from miles to kilometers by pressing & holding the odometer zero button, however, on Japanese cars this is not possible neither is it possible to change the setting in the BCU. The 'fix' is to fit a UK spec instrument pack & then sync the odometer to the BCU using Nanocom. Another thing is the central locking is 315mhz rather than 433mhz in UK spec. Also just discovered that Japanese spec D2s are only fitted with an immobiliser & not an alarm.

Hopefully someone will be along shortly who has first hand experience of the Japanese spec FL2s.

What you say is correct, ......... but the D2 is more akin to the FL1.

and as you say you can long-press the button, on a FL1, to convert the trip from Mls to Kms.


The FL2 is more akin to the D3/4.
