England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

Well as the title to this thread suggests another MOT and another 12 months satisfactorily completed

So mine is a MY2013 bought as a nearly new and in the 6 years and 97k miles of ownership the only items that have failed or broken (other than normal consumables and servicing) have been 1 x rear tailgate switch and 1 x set of wheel arch trims

I love my Freely and it is definitely the best car that I have ever owned. I suppose that if anything happens now, I am in credit to the tune of about £2.5k not spent on extended warranty during the past 3 years

Steve

Just reached 3 years of trouble free motoring, not a squeak or rattle. Only warning message has been the odd low pressure from the TPMS.
No plans to change, love it more than I did when I bought it and always look forward to driving it!

Couldn’t agree more!
Love mine to bits. I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.

Glad to see others share my view - just booked mine in for annual service and MOT after Xmas so hopefully the trend will continue - still never found anything I was prepared to swap for (except an immaculate early P38 but I have nowhere to keep it in the comfort oldies deserve) No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I bought my 2012 Evoque (or FL2 in a posh frock as some would say) in October 2016 and it came with 2 years LR warranty. In October 2018 I declined the offer of a third years warranty at £960 so in October this year, with no troubles whatsoever it was a celebration to not have spent anything on what would have been a warranty item. If only I had put that £960 in a tin somewhere!

Apart from an electrical glitch at 21K just after I bought it, its had nothing go wrong at all. Just service items, brakes, tyres and battery. It's at 52K at the moment. I'm well pleased with it - who said LR's are trouble? Laughing Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Well she passed her MOT again without any real issues Thumbs Up

I have now decided to sell in the Spring as I have only done just under 5000 miles in her this year Shocked and these cars need to be used - plus I am now well past my usual ownership timescale as I have had her 4 years whereas I usually change every 12 to 18 months. Looks like I will be going back to Volvo when I can find the right car

So anyone want a well kept reliable MY13 Freelander 2? Or any of the add-ons? - I will be taking the Evoque wheels off (including spare), the side rails, exhaust tail pipe, towbar and dedicated wiring loom etc. before I let her go - pre-sales enquiries welcome

A bloody good car that deserves a good home Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Another MOT safely negotiated. Rear shocks were leaking oil, which was picked up during an earlier service (which included a cambelt change) So they were replaced but I guess at 115k that is about as expected

So although it has been a fairly expensive year with regard to servicing costs, I still reckon that the only "failures" I have had from new have been a rear tailgate switch, a set of wheel arch trims, a split turbo hose and an excessive number of headlight bulbs.

Pretty pleased with that and the my "virtual" reserve fund/savings from not taking out a warranty is looking pretty healthy

My 2007 GS manual has done 208,000 miles. Sailed through this years MOT (usual £300 on handbrake!) - gets more reliable with the passing of time. True miracle this year when the drivers side heated screen started working again after a 6 year hibernation !

Handbrake has never worked properly - garage fix it every year and a month later it's gone
50000 miles glow plugs and battery
55000 miles additional earth strap fitted
60000 miles 4 wheel bearings
65000 miles engine leaks oil at a rate of 1 litre per 1000 miles
70000 miles rear differential
80000 miles heated screen replaced
90000 miles rear wiper motor
100000 miles boot latch
110000 miles wheel arch liners removed
120000 miles rear heated screen failed
125000 miles both keys needed new rechargeable batteries
130000 miles driver side heated screen failed
135000 miles hole in drivers mat
140000 miles new crankshaft position sensor
143000 miles new drivers wing mirror [white transit van on my side of road]
145000 miles cabin blower fan
150000 miles changed timing belt and water pump
180000 miles changed rear shock adsorbers
190000 miles changed battery and glow plugs
195000 miles changed starter motor (this was the key to improving cold starting, not battery or plugs)

Clutch has been slipping if pushed hard since 80,000 miles - drive it carefully and it will last forever. I suspect eventually rust around the rear axle or a ban on diesel will herald the final countdown
