Engine conversion

Merry Christmas everyone!
I have a major problem with my 2007 3.2i6 and would appreciate some advice. Here in South Africa, spares for this model are sometimes difficult to get, ie some hoses have had to be brought in from the UK. Has anyone done a conversion to Td4 diesel engine and if so is it a feasible option? These engines are obviously much more common and spares more readily available.
Thank you and enjoy your festivities and very best wishes for the New Year!

It’s possible BUT!
You’d have to change a lot more than engine.
Not to mention all the software, security and CCF changes.
It would be easier to just sell and buy a diesel version unless you like the challenge and have all the equipment which I still wouldn’t attempt.
Good luck Thumbs Up

PS....I’m in Australia and I buy all my bits directly from the UK. I can’t see why you couldn’t do this. I can have a part here in 4 days which sometimes is quicker than the local dealer can supply it! This would be a more logical approach.

Merry Christmas,

The 3.2 is shared with a lot of Volvo’s.

I own two vehicles with the 3.2

Both are over 100,000 miles and extremely reliable

2008 LR2
2010 S80

What problems are you having?

Take care

Paul

Sydney is not as remote as Perth which is the remotest city in the world! I get spares from UK.

I have the 2.0L petrol which uses more fuel than a diesel but I intend to keep it until I need a wheelchair (next vehicle)! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Both my stepsons are in Perth (well just outside...Busselton)

They reliably info me that both it, and Perth are no fun whatsoever.

I imagine at the present moment no where much in poor old Australia is much fun, some truly shocking pictures coming from that part of the world lately. Regards

We were in Busselton a few months ago. If they have kids themselves looks like plenty of fun to me. Even us dinosaurs played on the "ship wreck", other half is a sailer & forgot which is the pointy end of the boat, nothing like that on the east coast! The council even provides pumps & spanners for bikes.

We walked out on the 1.8km jetty & if one is too lazy there is a train! Plenty of stuff to see. I drove over this year to see the south west corner of Australia & other half flew into Perth. We didn't do the south west corner last year because living out of a car & rain was too much. A stack of stuff to see in the surrounding areas, have they done all the caves? Stunning!

Quite a few photos here from the south west corner, & a '28' on my arm at Wellington Dam.

Maybe they need to get a Freelander to have more fun in the SW!

Sorry to get off the topic, maybe some informed locals can start a thread. We even saw Costa in Nannup! Bow down Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thank you for your input. Most spares seem to have to be brought in from UK, whilst diesel spares are easily sourced.
