7th service due

So it's the time of year for the dreaded service and mot and seems at 7 yrs the timming belt (and water pump) is now due - thought it was later but not what 2 main dealers tell me.
As a result I'm facing a bill over over £900 from my usual LR main dealer (cheapest around here) so considering other options! Andrew

Agree, but why even bother with an independent , why not use your recommended local garage . That’s the way I’ve gone for many years . Would not consider paying anymore than £250 for a full service . Why go to a main dealer and have some spotty apprentice work on your car at £200 per hour.

It’s only a Volvo engine my local garage said he didn’t know if he could do the cam belt then looked under the bonnet and then said ok it’s only the Volvo engine and I’ve done a lot of then . So cam belt and water pump, full service and new front pads and mot £600

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Zermatt Silver

If its been designed by a man and built by a man then it can be repaired by a man…...........as long as he can follow some instructions.

If you don't have a workshop manual the full procedure is detailed in the instructions with the Gates Power Grip cam belt kit.
Only special tool required is the locking tools approx £28.

Take the front bumper off if you do the job. Not technically required but gives much better access to the starter motor. Thumbs Up Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
