Does any one out there know if there is any technical difference between Land Rover genuine oil filter part numbers

LR 001247 & LR 030778

Is there a problem using LR 001247

I know that LR030778 is the later version.

I use the Mann oil filter without issue but I am buying for the i6 engine.

I haven't looked at my oil filter but the LR original engine air filter for my petrol engine is Mann. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

As filtering element are the same.
The sole difference between them is the inner hole. On some is bigger, on others smaller.
From what I know, Mann is bigger, Knecht/Mahle is smaller.
Nevertheless, the socket is accommodating, without problems, both inner sizes.

I had a problem using the earlier filter on my vehicle as it has a thicker O ring gasket than the later one, which made it very hard to tighten up, even using the recommended 27mm angled ratchet spanner. On the next oil change I used the later filter, which has a thinner O ring and tightened up easily. I wonder if using the wrong filter is what causes the known problem of damaged filter housings?
