United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Orkney Grey
Freelander 2 Sat Nav

I have a 2012 freelander 2 HSE and I have a problem with my sat nav, I remove the sat nav DVD from under the drivers seat by mistake thinking it was the 6 CD changer, I put the map DVD back in and it now says can't read DVD and the display just goes to a blue screen no map, I did put a music cd in thinking is was the changer I hope it hasn't damaged it, only had car for 2 months, I have ejected and re-inserted the DVD twice but still doesn't load maps,
Any help please

After inserting the DVD are you locking the slot cover closed with the little slide switch?

Yes I have moved the slide switch and it states that it can't read data on DVD, have tried the other dvds in the set and still says the same, these dvds were working before I ejected it

I would try taking the fuse for it out putting the disk in and then replace the fuse,if it doesn’t work try a hard reset you never know.

If the cleaning process doesn't work (and it generally doesn't in my experience) then you may have the soft laser problem. CD and DVD players are notorious for having the laser go "soft" after a few years such that they can't read the TOC (table of contents) on the inner track. Most Hi-Fi systems are thrown away just for this reason. There was a time when you could open up the box and crank up a preset but that often didn't last long. If all else fails have a look at a few youtube videos on the subject then take it apart and look for some presets -you have nothing to lose. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

have a look on ebay for a new DVD drive, coming up at around £100 give or take

I believe its just a case of unbolt the old one, disconnect the cables then bolt in the new one and reconnect.

With you having remove it, just try unplugging it and then re- plug it back in. These multi-terminal plugs can sometimes play up. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Thanks to everyone for all the information, bought a DVD lens cleaner, run it a couple of times and then unplugged the DVD player for 20 minutes just to be on the safe side, inserted old DVD map and hey presto it's now working, job done
