Hi guys, I had an operation five weeks ago and haven't been able to drive, went out to the car today and I can't get it unlock with either fob and to make matters worse the car is parked near side to my caravan so can't open it with the key
Any ideas greatly received. Common sense isn't very common.

1. Move the caravan
2. Lift the car with a trolley jack and move it sideways so you can get to the door lock
3 Get a friend with a heavy car or truck to drag your FL2 out, locked or not. Maybe put some slip plates under the accessible wheels.
You have to get that N/S door open somehow then slip the fob in place. Alarm will sound but you should be able to start it if battery ok. If not, charge battery once you have unlocked it.

If it is possible move the caravan to where you can partially open a van window and insert the key into the door and unlock, you can then use the other fob in the ignition slot as the car will then be fully unlocked. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

caravan is on winter wheel so can't move it.
mate has a disco 2 diesel so that would pull it, but will it damage the gearbox (auto) or anything else?

Interesting reading, basically i'm looks like I've got to tow it out.

can't move the van and of course the windows don't line up, could take the fridge out and try via the vent
apparently just opening the near side door with the key doesn't unlock the other doors.

wondering if removing the back door switch would help, maybe putting 12v down it! somebody tried via the towing electrics but that didn't work. Common sense isn't very common.

Then, if you have space sideways, use dunkley201 method no. 2.
Lift the back and move it sideways, as the front diff will allow pivoting, even if the gearbox is locked.

been looking at that, the front wing is 8" from the caravan, is that going to be enough?
where would I jack it to lift both rear wheels? Common sense isn't very common.

I had the same dilemma a while ago but it was parked a few inches away from a shed and no room to get a jack under it, I ended up dragging it out a few feet with my Defender, no harm done👍

Sure it will be enough. You will do it slowly, right?

As you say you have towing electrics, assuming you have a flat battery, you can charge the battery through the the 13 pin socket. I use a connector through the tow bar with my CTEK charger.

Assuming your manual is in the car, Alex is referring to the main Diff casting!

As the car is auto the geabox is locked in Park, you would need to lift the front the rear wheels should revolve if no handbrake is applied. As there is 8" between the car and van you may be able to lean across the bonnet and operate the key( cover the bonnet with the soft van matress) you then may be able to get a rod to operate the unlock button, (you sure the key doesn't operate the central unlocking) I understood sleep mode only disables the alarm and starting as a fob is required to be inserted to re enable normal function. Sleep mode is to retain some battery function over long storage. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

flat battery isn't the problem the car has gone to sleep shame as the cover is missing. Common sense isn't very common.

I think that the best way of moving your FL2, and not damaging the transmission, is to buy/make some dollies, jack up the car, and put them under the wheels.
Cheaper and easier in the long run.

plastic milk crates under 4 wheels might work ,should slide on them.
