My daughter in Canada has just had to have her Toyota Pick up re-wired because the rats ate her wiring.

on a trip round a combine harvester factory, the manufactures told me they spend thousands annually trying to invent/source vermin proof wiring and still haven't succeeded.

That’s odd, Ford had to put a “nasty taste” in the looms of vehicles years ago because in the Bavaria region in particular we were getting issues with Pine Martens chewing the new (soy) looms, so cannot understand why the manufacturer you saw could not do it also, it’s been known for a very long time now. Back in the 70s we installed miles and miles of cable in rat infested environment and the only ones that survived was brass taped, what that means it has a very thin layer of brass tape just underneath the first layer of PVC. Once the rodents get through the PVC the brass tape nicks and cut the rats mouth and sometime later ... exit one rat.

it was John Deere trouble with a combine harvester is its basically loaded with rat/mice food even after a good clean down, and the rodents have to bite stuff to keep their teeth worn down, cables seem to be the favorite no matter what they taste of At work

Thought that's why all cars had cats fitted now. Common sense isn't very common.

My fl1 had two cats, they lived on the back of the engine somewhere and would jump out ever morning when I unlocked the door, on returning to the barn to park they would normally be waiting for their warm nest.
