I find Autoglym Super Resin polish leaves a white residue on any matt black plastic part and also on rubber seals. It is very awkward to remove and dissuades me from applying polish to my car more regularly.

Even if you are careful to keep the polish to the painted areas only during application it often gets on the matt parts (eg washer nozzles) when buffing.

Is there a polish / wax that does not leave similar white, difficult-to-remove residues. ? Jules

+1 for Auto Glym aqua wax. It leaves no residue and is quick to apply as it's designed to be applied straight after shampooing and rinsing. If you wax on/wax off with two microfiber cloths and a tiny bit of elbow grease the finish is really good too - almost as good as carnauba wax but half the hassle.

The only negative is that aqua wax doesn't seem to last quite as long as some other waxes.

My FL2 is santorini black so needs a fair bit of looking after. I tend to use Poor Boys black hole glaze and natty black paste wax when I've got the time to do a proper wash and wax job, then the Auto Glym for when it just needs a quick going over.

Someone also told me a rubber/eraser is a good way to get rid of white wax residue easily, though haven't tried it myself. Meguiars ultimate black plastic restorer is a really good product for all FL2 trim - rear pillars, mud flaps, side strips etc.

I use GTechniq C1 and Exo, lasted about 4 years when I first applied it. Be warned, if you start looking at this stuff you are wandering into Detailing land....you may not make it back unscathed.

It may be worth bearing in mind that SRP is a polish, not a wax, and so needs a wax or similar coating applied. I only learnt this when cleaning the fibreglass cover on my car trailer than had sat neglected for many years before I acquired it. I opted to use Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection after applying the SRP.

I use Autoglym fast glass to remove any white marks I get on plastic/rubber, as suggested by Autoglym themselves

I'd recommend polish your paint. Remove any residue and then apply a good ceramic coating.

I've done a lot of detailing over the years and can tell you that these new ceramic coatings are superior (and last a LONG time)

if you get SRP on plastic, a pencil eraser will rub it off Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Auto Finesse Radiance carnauba créme. Provides 3 months protection.

Or Auto Finesse Glisten spray wax for the in between washes.

I am going to give the new turtle wax (yes really) ceramic range a go this spring. I am a Meguiars man from history, not their Halfords product set, but the 105/205 combos from detailing shops applied using a DA machine.

The TW one stage ceramic polish can be used in direct sunlight and is rumoured to be non staining... not sure I believe that last bit so will try it somewhere low down first.

It seems the TW ceramic spray can go on anything and gives some reasonable post polishing/correction protection compared to the Megs nano waxes I have been using - which are quite good IMHO. The missus SLC will be the guinea pig, requiring very little correction before the ceramic protection is applied. The freely may require a bit more as I have recently acquired it, so I might need to break out something a little more aggressive.

I also haven’t had any staining of rubber or plastic from the megs Nano wax I have used for years. Have to be more careful with the 105/205 though.
