Had the noise from rear nearside disgnosed as wheel bearing so will get it done by the old boys at the local garage. How long should it take? Read on here that changing the whole hub might be easier, though no doubt more costly. Finally as one is going is it worth doing offside at same time? Seems to be lots of prices for front assembley but rear seems a bit more thin on the ground.

I had a rear bearing replaced by a local LR specialist for around £110 .

I wouldn’t change the other side just for the sake of it although when you’ve had one done you can then hear the other one going!  Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Can I hijack this thread and ask if a wheel bearing on the FL2 is something any garage can deal with rather than needing an indy specialist? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

You need a fairly massive press to replace the actual bearings, or you can do what I did and replace the whole hub assembly and the whole thing can be done in under an hour.

Had my nearside rear wheel bearing done at a local non LR garage. Can’t remember how much I paid for that to be done but thinking it was the diff bearing I did a round trip of two hundred miles to Bell Engineering.

Austin not only correctly diagnosed the wheel bearing (but at that time didn’t stock them) He confidently said if he was wrong, he’d pay for any other (associated) repairs himself. Needless to say, he was spot on

I've done both my rears on the car - No press needed. Others on here have done this too. I used a kit from ebay - cost around £40. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
Evoque SD4 Auto Blue.
FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone.
RR Classic V8 EFI - Gone

Got job done whilst getting MOT and oil change. £180 all in think not bad at all.
