Like a Happy Shopper version of the Land Rover test track. I notice that they didn’t stop to open and close the doors (to demonstrate torsional stiffness) during the cross axle stage I still can’t see past the Datsun Cherry 100A / car derived van styling

Bet even that Datsun outstrips LR on the reliability stakes. |

Given coil springs (thus loosing a shed load of vulnerable sensors) and a further 2 years’ customer testing and product development in the field, is there any reason why is shouldn’t? (Genuine question ) |

If he’d turned up on our shoot this morning wearing those boots , he would have had the ripped out of him so mercilessly, that he would have probably skulked off before lunchtime . Must say I like the look of the new Defender a lot . As Subaru have dropped Diesel engines I might just be tempted in a year or two . My farmer mate has just sold his 90 pickup as he’s sick of sleeping with one eye open and listening for night time visitors . He’s replaced it with a Ford Ranger 3.0 auto . I can t see the new Defender replacing many 90s and having a collie on the seat and the purple spray for sheep feet splashed on the tactile surfaces . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned ! 2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto . |

The XC40 might be pig ugly, but as natural successors to the Volvo estates of old, the XC60 and 90 have got a lot going for them. The XC60 might be a bit low, with a hard ride, but they both have typically excellent Volvo seats, good styling (leagues ahead of the hideous D5 monstrosity) and the 90 is cavernous. They won’t touch a LR off road and they max out at 1.9 litre fours (plus the derisory “twin engine”), but they are better value for money and make a great road biased cross over. They wouldn’t suit me, but the 60 and 90 are still good choices if none of the drawbacks (low mileage warranty, ultimate off road ability, limited engine choices & XC60 ride) are especially relevant |

So do I! Just love the 6 cylinder engine. Just bought my better half a '17 Cherokee. Was going to trade in the Freelander...... but just couldn't do it. Swapped in my Kia Cerato commuter. The Cherokee is a surprisingly quality ride. But I still prefer the LR! |

I think I'd go Kia Sorento from that list, very nice motors. Unless a pick up truck would work, in which case I'd fancy a D Max. 👍 |
