Referring to "Iansimpson" post about CPS; before this trouble started did you experience any occasional momentary loss of power at all?

CPS can be had for 15-30 GBP and is an easy job, might be worth try?

I had already bought the fuel pump so was hoping that was it.

Is there any tests that can be done to confirm its the crankshaft sensor, before replacing?

Prior to never being able to start it, the story so far is:

I noticed it would sometimes crank more than normal, but it would always eventually fire up.

I noticed the odd slight judder on the motorway, talking less than 1/4 of a second, and was only once in a blue moon it happened

One day took a while to crank, fired up fine. As i was pulling away, the car cut out. Then would only crank, and not fire since.

Had an error RE glowplugs. So had them replaced, didnt fix the issue

RAC and others mentioned fuel pump - Replaced, not fixed the issue

That takes me to today...

Getting fuel dribbling through all 4 injectors completely fine, but wont fire up at all. Unless its with easy start, but then cuts out instantly

I cant find anywhere local that would sell them today, this looks like it should fit?

Yes, according with the part numbers in the description, it should work.
A mechanic, from a garage I know, told me that, sometimes, they don't work at all, from new.
Take that into account, for the possibility to return them, if it wont work.

The CPS in the link says it is a fit for our FL2.

As to a test for it, I've not heard of any but with our 2007 orange beast we had the odd sudden short power loss then fraction of a second later recovered once in a blue moon on M-way for a long time, more than a couple of years of this. Then suddenly it came much more often and not always on M-way, the change in behaviour was very dramatic and unsettling when you were pulling out onto a main road, so read up on this forum and changed it about 6 months ago, since then no more issues

My point is that it's level of operation can degrade very drastically or as evidenced by Ian it can fail equally quickly - I'd say go for it, it's a low cost part and easy to DIY so no garage costs - all good from the point of view of a fellow Yorkshire man

So a new crankshaft sensor is something to add to the list that hasn't worked.

So between a new crankshaft sensor, and fuel pump, what else could there be?

The only thing I've not swapped myself is the fuel filter, but this should have been done when it was serviced.

So now im not sure whether to just replace the fuel filter while im at it (seems fine though, and no discolouration to the fuel when bled through.

Or/And whether to try another crankshaft sensor as Alex mentioned they sometimes dont work from new.

Is there any point in the above? Or shall i just take it to a garage? (or any other tests to try )

If you are buying a crankshaft sensor go for a good make. such as for instance Hella, Bourgicord or NGK or even Genuine

The amazon brand was Intermotor.
Just ordered a new Bosch Crankshaft Sensor and new Fuel Filter.

Hopefully something will happen, but its looking unlikey so far
