HI I have had my 07 FL2 2.2 diesel XS Auto for 7 years with no real problems
This morning while driving on a dual carriageway in the rain while accelerating had a sudden jolt and lost the auto gear change. could still use the manual change when got to the market and left it for a while all was back to normal. Any Ideas where I should be checking as no lights came on and no faults recorded. I am a bit stumped.

Whats the mileage?

The general consensus on this forum seems to be that the autobox needs an oil change at about 40-50K miles.
ie much sooner than JLR recommendation. Jules

Just completed 100k had the oil changed at 80k

Please explain symptoms a bit more. Did it lock into one gear, or did it go into emergency mode with the lock up clutch not working. Did you need to use manual selection, or only to get reverse, did it allow the torque converter to pull away from stop. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Did not lock in to one gear Just would not go through the gears automatically I had to use the Manual selector. and no It did not emergency mode that would have shown on the dash. until I stopped in the car park I could only use the Manual selector pulled away ok from a stand still. after an hour all worked ok.

Thanks David, I still not sure I understand fully what happened.
Maybe a silly question, how did you know it was not changing gear, was the torque converter working, or was it locked up.
Display is only command shift mode, or were you or had you been using command shift to get engine braking, or something, beforehand.

If the Autobox believes that it cannot control the gear changes, I understand that its default is to use fuzzy logic to select a gear and allow you to drive by refusing to allow lock up of clutch (torque converter). If it was a transient fault then ignition off/on will normally reset it.

Are you sure that your car hasn't stored an error code that's waiting to explain everything.
