Probably late in the day to be joining the forum, but our FR2 had to have the headlight replaced because a cable was frayed that isn't sold separately (so land rover told us). Does anyone have a PDF of the headlight assembly. We have the old light that we are able to sell which is functioning aside from the cable.

Also, does anyone know what this silver cable does when attached to the little box that says OSRAM on it? That's the cable that was damaged. You might be able to see that the connector was damaged too.

Long story, we suspect of something sinister from a 'specialist' we took the car to.

Thanks for the response.
It's a 2009 59 plate HSE model. Not sure if it's standard but it has the xenon lights that point into the corner as you turn.
Apparently they needed adjusting for the MOT, but couldn't be adjusted due to a damaged cable.
It's the nearside lamp.
The cable connector shown in the diagram is damaged so it can no longer connect to the silver box

The "Osram box" is the back of the D1S Xenon bulb (they are much larger then ordinary halogen bulbs). The cable is part of it and I presume it protected in the way it is because these bulbs require very high voltages (in the order of 28000v). AFAIK The xenon bulbs are replaceable separate to the headlamp unit so I dont know why your whole headlamp assembly was replaced.
I presume the silver cable comes already attached to the bulb unit.
Unfortunately the JLR workshop manual only has a few pages on the adaptive Xenon bulb (p1925-1927).

Note: My knowledge of Xenons comes not from my FL2 but my BMW 3 series which had them, and the adaptive function failed on numerous occasions so I was happy to have a FL2 without them. They are not as bright but are far less hassle when they go wrong.

If the wire is shredded inside the protective silver layer then it's an issue as a lot of voltage passes through the cable, still, it may be repairable, you just don't know long it will last. The receptacle at the end of said cable looks pretty mangle however, likely during removal or someone trying to install/force it on the wrong ballast and bulb. Not sure if that's repairable or even removable if you were successful in installing it.

Not sure what to do with this unit now, or how to get the replacement parts if possible.
I'm suspicious of the damage as it looks like its been forced and I can't see how that could have happened naturally.
I have to say I'm not surprised to hear about the voltages as the lights are extremely bright.

Anybody have any ideas on what I can do with the old headlight pictured, or is it just good for throwing away?

Personally, I sure as heck would not toss it.............I have not pulled my assembly since last winter when I switched to better illumination but I am sure it's salvageable to someone handy. Again, it looks like the HID and the receptacle end of the cable are FUBAR from your pics.

I'd keep hold of it but then again I'm a hoarder

As for damaged connection piece!!! Been either forced or caught under something to me
