Adios Amigos.

I'm leaving the Green Oval Marque, probably for the last time.

I've been looking at a replacement for my F2 for about a year, with not a lot of success, until now.

I widened my search to other 4 x 4's, and this week I pick up Seat Tarraco XCellence Lux 2.TDI 4 Drive 190PS 7 speed DSG Auto. (The longest model description in the world).

It ticks lots of boxes for what I want, and more besides. I spec'd a DS up to the same level, and it was working our at about 20K more.

I used my usual 'they want the sale more than I want to buy from them' negociating skills, which sees me getting in a 4 week old fully loaded car for under 30K, and I even got a very fair part ex on the F2.

Worth looking at if you are looking to change.

Thanks to you all for the fun, laughs and advice. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Looks OK,
Enjoy, but you'll need to keep us updated
on you're progress, as more of us will eventually need to replace
our ageing Freelanders,
Shame they are all a similar shape though.

mcsimmo - I presume it has the latest 7 plate wet clutch DSG. The earlier (DQ200) dry plate version was to be avoided at all costs according to Honest John.

Actually, having re-read HJ's notes on DSGs your car will be fine as the DQ200 was only fitted to smaller engines. Jules

I read somewhere that manufacturers were moving away from the DSG system and reverting to torque convertors due to reliability issues. This was one of the reasons that my wife went for a Suzuki Swift auto which uses a torque convertor. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Honest John has pages and pages of complaints about DSGs, especially the DQ200. The DQ200 was a sealed for life unit with special oil. But it turned out at high temps the oil became conductive and ruined the very expensive mechatronic units. So VAG recalled the cars and put in another oil but didnt make it clear that it needed replacing at least every 4 years - so people started complaining about trashed DSGs that were only a few years out of warranty.

https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/search/?q=dq200

Having said that my son's 2012 Seat Leon FR has the early 6 speed wet plate DSG and has had no issues with it whatsoever. Jules

It has the 7 speed DSG box.

I'm out my depth with all the electric toys it has. 413 pages in the user manual, and I fear I may have to actualy have to read some of it. Rolling Eyes Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018
