The Ford linkage isn't quite so close to Mazda, they own about 40% but Mazda are somewhat more independent than some of the other stablemates.

The new 2.2 diesel engine is of Mazda's own design, don't know about the chassis on the CX7, is it FL2 related? The CX7 has suffered from not having a diesel engine option. I guess we'll see more of them in future. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

I thought it was the other way round - mazda platform with the psa 2.2 diesel, as the power and torque seem to align with the other vehicles that take it.

I'm not sure on the platform origins but here is a bit of background on the engine, as I say Mazda very much doing thier own thing. The new 2.2 engine comes in 3 power outputs, 125, 163 and 185ps, I'm testing a new Mazda 6 with the 163 engine in a couple of weeks
