Key dock problem?

Hoping someone can help.
I have 2008 freelander 2 and it is a bit of a work horse but I love it.
In the last 6-8 it randomly goes through stages of not wanting to start until you fiddle with the key in the dock. I have tried both keys and it does the same with both. The other day I started it and was then able to take the key out of the dock and it stayed running!!! I didn’t think that was quite right but it’s very random. Will happen every 7-10 days or so and then no problems. It had a new battery a few months ago and a new starter motor 3ish years ago.
It’s just had a lot of work done - turbo replacement - so not sure if that may have caused problems. That was all sorted but the engine light came back on today - anyway - that’s another issue.
Will a new dock sort this out or is it electrical.
Many thanks in advance.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

As you have had lots of work done recently, you need to look at any DTC error codes that the FL2 is recording and storing.

It may not be the key dock itself which is your problem. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)
