Hi, im,e off to France next month with the Landy and caravan. Just got the aa approved headlight stick on pear shaped deflectors. Can any one tell me exactly where I need to put them. Do I use the round section or the whole thing. Instruction leaflet a bit vague. Also do I need to take the log book with me or can I take a photo copy.

I have a pdf file that shows how to make your own, and where to stick them, but I can't figure how yo attach it.

As for documents, I always take originals, but put copies in online accessible place (Google drive or dropbox) in case stolen or lost. Also do this with insurance documents, passports, licences and anything else I think of. That way I will always have access to information. Andy

Check your handbook. May not be required depending on headlight type. My MY14 doesn't need them, HB3 bulb type lights. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I thought there was a lever at the base of the lights that deflects the lights for when driving on the right.
Worth checking out.

The 2012 SD 4 does need deflectors and you can make your own, can't remember where I got the template maybe the handbook but it came with instructions as to where to fit . 50mm adhesive tape will allow you to make a few spares, Andy's pdf is the one you need for your car it fits top left of centre on both lights, .warning it does reduce lighting especially on the right, I would consider using the fogs on the darker country roads as there is not as much traffic on the continent my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

mine does need the stick on deflectors. 2012 model. headlight removed and verified. As I said I already have purchased the aa deflectors so no need to make any diy ones. It,s just where to stick them on the headlight.

The fitting instructions tell you, I've used various types over the years, the instructions for them are fairly straight forward but don't try to fit them in the wet or damp and clean the headlight with alcohol or wet wipes if you want them to last the holiday never liked that type though my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

There is a dot on the front lens in front of each beam (dip and main). This is the alignment point.

Aftermarket deflectors should tell you how to align with this point.

What tape is safe to use and stick to headlights if doing the diy version?

I bought a half-metre of black Fablon (other sticky-backed plastics are available). Ten pairs were made but only one was pair was needed for a month's stay in France. The dot on the lens should be at the top right corner of each patch - not the bottom corner because it is the lower left part of the reflector that would throw light up towards oncoming traffic.

I recently switched the xenon bulbs and did see the lever. It is inside the unit, you have to take the units out en take the rear off.
