Hi all
I'm looking at buying a bike carrier, the ones that use a mounting bracket between the towball and the mounting point of the towbar. I have a Witter horizontal flange detachable system and thought something like the Witter ZX89 would do the trick however looking at my tow bar, only the actual tow ball protrudes out past the bumper therefore making it impossible to drop a frame directly onto the mounting bracket. I assume I could just put a spacer between the tow ball mounting and the bike frame mounting plate but not sure if these plates are ok to use or not. Appreciate any comments/advice.

I have the witter carrier on a standard LR fixed towbar. As you rightly say a spacer is required, around 1" I think. I'll take a photo this evening and post on here. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I have a bike rack bracket on my towball and a spacer fitted, still allows clearance

Needed a 1" spacer and obviously longer bolts but works a treat when coupled up to trailer tent. Carrier is advertised as a 3 bike but our 2 bikes took up most of the room and would be tight to fit a 3rd adult bike on the carrier
