Haldex Service

Hi Guys

My FL2 just coming up for 43k and was wondering about getting the Haldex fluid and filter replaced.

Can anyone tell me what Austen at Bell does ie take the Haldex unit off and clean etc

Also I understand he does a drive in and wait service how long does it take, oh and how much?

Regards

Richard

Its crazy that LR don`t stipulate it needs changing on a regular basis, oil is the most important fluid in any vehicle

V.W. and Volvo say it should be changed at regular intervals I don`t understand LR

Call me a cynic but,

Imagine you want to sell a lot of cars, then the big fleet buyers are the ones you need to sell to. They don't care how much it costs initially, they want to know how much it depreciates over 3 years. They also want to know how much it's going to cost to service over 75,000 miles.

So depreciation on a LR for the first three years is comparible with most prestige makes - box ticked (actually quite good compared to some.) Servicing - lets say you don't change the gearbox oil at 75k, or the diff oil, or the transfer box oil. And you stipulate air filters and fuel filters every 40k - you have halved the service costs - box ticked so you sell lots of cars.

Even better, those private buyers who change cars regularily also have low running costs and lowish depreciation.

The fact that the gearboxes / differential will die in year 5 along with the engine coking up though blocked filters isn't really LRs problem, the cars are out of warranty, and the people that own them now are only interested in second hand cars so they aren't the sort of people that LR are interested in. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

yes Austen @Bell will do front diff/PTU and rear diff oils, Haldex fluid and filter for around £250, takes about 2 -3 hours.

there is a Forestry Commission centre about 1.5 miles up the road from his, with cafe, walks stuff for the kids to do so you can drop the car off and go there for a few hours. Or there is Bewdley just a bit further down the road for riverside walks, shops, cafes etc.

Give him a call for a quote etc. Hes a really nice bloke and very helpful.

Austen sorted mine out. Removed and flushed the haldex and replaced it with all new filters etc.
Cannot recommend him highly enough and as it was a wet day, he even allowed us to stay and watch him work. He has a F1 that he offered as a courtesy car , but as the service wasn't going to take too long, and I like to see what's going on, I declined it. The service took less time than anticipated , so we went to the Safari Park on the way home. All in all, a great day out.
Austen has clients from all over the world and told me he has one who makes regular journeys from Germany just to have him personally service his Haldex.
Now that's a very satisfied customer !

Amazing website. Does anyone know what Haldex unit I would have gen 3 or 4?

It’s a 2014 tdi

I can only assume it has not been serviced ever so I’m considering buying the service kit. MY2014 HSE Santorini Black

Brilliant, thank you.

I’ve been reading through the other thread about the actual service, which is huge, I’m only on page 5, is this a service that most people actually get done, or just one for the purists/fanatics?! MY2014 HSE Santorini Black
