how does it compare to others ???, and why is it £200-£300 cheaper than superchips etc?

Does that not hurt the engine? It's quite a big jump up!

Any product that's marketed with a sultry looking young lady must be a reputable and reliable one Whistle
The sketchy English translation is a bit of a worry. I'm not sure what this means:
"All dry-running operations of the engine are obtained. For every kind of engine tuning we recommend to do it only at constant attendance of gear belt, oil change etc."

It's not a chip as such. It's another plug in tuning box, which just intercepts the signal from the ECU and increase's fuel pressure.

Go for a re-map, they are much safer. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

About the remap:

Where do you get those?
Does it not reset if LR do a software update?

About engine tuning in general:

Does it not show when the dealer do diagnostics and does that not interfere with waranty?
How about taxes and stuff, can you not be penalised if the find out (eg after a sever accident you might not be covered and get an extra fine...)

Why do you want to do all this? Is the engine not performant enough? Wont it hurt the engine?

Note: I do realise manufacturers set the car to balance between "powerfull enough" and "tax friendly" for each country that is why in Belgium we have an 150HP and 160HP version.

I personally think it all can go horribly wrong, especially becouse insurers are always looking at ways NOT to have to pay...

It seems it is more lenient in the UK and increased insurance for chipped vehicles is cheaper than elsewhere Question if this is declared of course.

Personally I wouldn’t tune or chip any vehicle in Norway without paying the necessary taxes and increased insurance, which would sting and the reason I haven’t done this on the Freely. In addition speed limits are much lower here and although chipping is popular, seems a bit pointless if you want to keep your licence intact. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Most re-maps on cars are un-detectable when the diagnostic kit is plugged in.

The main reason is the way they do it.

A tuner will exract the original software file from the car's ECU, this software has it's own version code, the software is then modified and the file re-installed in the car's ECU. So the software version code remains the same.

So if a technician looks into the car's ECU all he will see is the cars software version, and this is not visible for simple diagnostic checks, if the car has it's standard map put back in for servicing purposes and they update the factory software, Superchips will tell you to re-read the ECU with your Bluefin hand set and they will re-do the re-map FOC for you as this sort of thing happens all the time.

Hope this helps. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Hi,
I know im a bit late on this one, but wondered if you actually purchased and fitted one of the RaceChips?
I had one for my Audi A3 from RaceChip.de, which I was more than happy with. I didn't really notice a massive change in performace (other than it being more responsive) but the Mpg gains were considerable, around 10mpg extra. So they do work.

On this I have to disagree, the boxes are manufactured to be engine specific and digital circuitry is used. They actually read the information and culculate what needs to be adapted, rather than intercepting and bypassing the signals.

From FAQ page

Quote:
Can I use RaceChip after I changed my vehicle?
Yes, if your new vehicle is a common-rail diesel as well or is ulterior compatible, you can take RaceChip with you. It may be that you need a new cable. That is available at our shop for best price.

so i am guessing NOT vehicle specific
