Windscreen caulk

Does anyone have remedies on refreshing the windscreen adhesive that’s come away from the glass?

Cheers,
Al

Mine is that way, all around, for about 5 years now.
If you can live with the aesthetics, then leave it that way.
On a "bright" side, it wont go further the red line below.

Thanks for all your thoughts on this, looks like I’ll just carry on with it for now then, shame really as there’s quite a few stone chips as well, and a tiny crack at the bottom.

Yes, I am too although it’s worth it with an Evoque as the pan roof is covered under the glass policy and not the main policy like many other insurance companies. I had my screen changed last year. Make sure you insist on an OE screen, not an OE equivalent screen. I did - they had a minor quibble about the cost but I told them that’s their problem not mine as I insured a LR screen and that’s what I want it replaced with. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

@ the OP - if you have chips and a crack as well as delamination you may as well get it replaced

@Steve - does the LR original screen apply to a nearly 7 year old car as well ? I have a chip on the drivers side, below my eye level but within the wiper sweep. I can hardly see it from the inside, especially with all the dead flies that congregate this time of year, but from the outside its visibly cracking out about 5mm either side. Dont think it can be filled but pretty sure it will fail MOT on it.

Mot limit in that zone is 10mm so give it a tap to be sure! My wife used to work in a windscreen insurance company and they would always fit OE if the customer was insistent enough no matter what the age. The insurance company only sub it out to windscreen companies so if they start messing you about, just get onto your insurance company and kick up a fuss. Of course, they’d prefer not to fit OE........ Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Couple of options...

Firstly, I'd check your warranty on the current windscreen as if the last windscreen replacement has a lifetime warranty it may come under that as bad fitting?

Or, insurance, windscreen claims don't affect our premiums, and excesses do vary with insurer so may not be as much as you think (£140 listed above is the highest I've ever seen!) our insurers range from £50 to £100 excesses for replacement and from £0 - £25 repair.

Many replacement glass is Pilkington anyway which is exactly the same as LR windscreen (same factory, no LR logo) - so worth checking that too Thumbs Up
