Failure to start

Hi folks, first ever post so please be gentle! My 09 Freelander 2 (110,000 miles) occasionally fails to start and 'low voltage' appears on the radio screen. If I switch everything off, after 6-10 attempts, it usually starts. Problem is worse in warm weather. Battery and charging system are working properly (12+ v, not running, 14.6 running) When it fails to start, no fault codes are triggered and the RAC discovered a fuel delivery problem to the common rail. After manually sucking the fuel through and a jump start, it starts and runs normally. Main dealer, Halfords and Bosch haven't suggested a fix. Anyone else had the same symptoms? Anyone know a fix? Should I try a Ford dealer in case it's a known Mondeo engine fault?

It's a Peugeot designed engine built under licence by Ford actually. Just some thoughts.
Does it turn over quickly when trying to start ie does the battery sound OK ? Earthing problems? Have you fitted the second earthing strap that's recommended now? Have you changed the fuel filter and perhaps got some air in it? How did the RAC discover the fuel problem if there are no codes? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Hi Dorset Freelander
Engine cranks at full speed (until the battery tires). I'll try the additional earth strap thanks as I'd not heard of that before.
The RAC determined that it sounded like fuel starvation as there was full battery power and hence they took the cover off the engine and accessed the common rail and noticed no fuel being pumped. I've had the tank cleaned and all the filters and fuel pipes replaced.
Thanks for the response
