Hey guys I’m getting mixed opinions on adding running boards. Some people are saying you have to drill the chassis and others are saying you do t have to drill. I really want to add some running boards but the idea of drilling chassis is putting me off. I’ve got a 2012 HSE SD4 of this makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated

No drilling required it's fastened with rivets.

By running boards do you mean side steps? If so you will find loads of posts on here.
To fit side steps you do not need to drilla nything BUT you do need to have rivnuts for the bolts on the steps - again a search will put you right. No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

So the kit comes complete and all o have to do is bolt to the chassis?

Well yes but you have to fit rivnuts, they need a tool to fit them

The bolting points are already drilled in the bodywork but they have not installed captured nuts to bolt to, hence the need to install rivnuts. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone

If you do decide I have a nutsert gun you can use.
The only thing you have to do is cut some slots in the plastic cull covers for the brackets to come through. You won’t see these even if you decide to take the side steps off. MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)

Here's the LR Fitting Instructions for running boards - I've had several sets of OEM and generic boards they all fit pretty much the same way

I’d definitely try a FL2 with side steps/running boards before fitting them to yours, I find they hinder access as my legs bash against them, the FL2 is low enough not to need them for most people.

I like the look of them though, ours came with them but I took them off to repair them (the fixing rivets had corroded away) and really didn’t like the look without them. Regards

In the end I decided the steps were'nt for me an I fitted side rails (which I have just taken off an will be selling) I liked the look better

I took my side steps off as they weren't worth it imo , swapped over the sill covers from the FL2 which mine were going on so win win .
