A photo would be handy so the rest of us can avoid this issue. The slightest change in the wrong spot or the wrong profile can cause horrible noise. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

That used to be a common fault many years ago when using those cheap, gutter mounted aluminium roof racks. At certain speeds it gave a noise like you were being followed by an prop driven aeroplane that sounded exactly like a wheel bearing. I had a similar thing a few weeks ago on a mates car. A fiesta he used for teaching pupils. Turned out it was the triangular magnetic roof sign that was giving the noise. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Tie down ratchet straps will resonate in the wind, put half a twist in the strap & it stops making noise. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Last time I had a humming rear end was over 60 years ago after being slippered for some misdemeaner. Had POLNUD as a light bruise for a few days. Parents today would prosecute the school for assault. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

The only noise I have had was from the front left cast metal bracket fitting into the extrusion. On corrugated roads it rattled. A bit on packing with high abrasion engine bay electrical tape fixed the problem.
