Cavity Wax

Got some Dynax s50 to
apply to chassis box sections.
Thought about rinsing them out
with hose beforehand.
Would this be a good idea or
will the water just make things worse?
I reckon it'll take ages to dry out in there.
Thanks
Iain

Don't rinse out the box sections, crazy to introduce water into these areas

What is your reason for such a stupid (no offence intended) idea ?

The "stupid" idea was to rinse out any salt that may be lying in there.
As should be apparent from my post, I had misgivings about doing it,
hence the question. Rolling Eyes

Does state in the adverts that it displaces water s might not be a bad idea, as you say remove salt etc first. Common sense isn't very common.

Depends how well the box sections are sealed, I’d suspect on the (or any LR) FL2 they are quite open to let water after wading out quickly, pretty sure in normal driving not so much salty/road water gets into the deeper box sections anyway (let’s discount towing boats out of the sea!) but wading a ford or river will get them well “rinsed”, I’d just go for the spray regardless. Regards

David

Still a stupid idea in my humble opinion, so your misgivings are justified.

Is there a specific reason you prefer this brand please? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Ideal to do on a warm day, and although messy well worth it to add years to your Landrover. Thumbs Up

You want to make sure all your door sill panel clips & panel close by have properly functioning clips as the holes go from inside the car to outside. You can see the orange through the hole in the middle hole of the 3 holes. All these holes around the car go to the outside!

I always heat my waxoyl up before spraying. Put the can in a large pan of water ontop of a portable camping stove. Makes it much easier to spray with less blocking of the jets.
You can also add a small amount of white spirit to aid the spraying. Jules

I thought that was on the tin about warming the solution up before spraying, maybe they don’t bother anymore. Regards

The Bilt Hamber products come with a long extension hose with multiple tiny holes in that can reach inside sills and box sections etc , just leave in the house overnight or pop the can into some warm water and away you go . Waxoyl is old school now and things have moved on .
