Hi Lightwater - what is your experience on the Pirelli Scorpion ATR Plus? I need to replace my worn Scorpion ATR's. They were excellent on tar, being round with no vibration and very quiet. Off-road on bad dirt roads, they never got a puncture from sharp stones, when deflated were very tractable and comfortable, and excellent on wet and dry tarmac.
If the ATR plus is an improvement on an already good tyre, then I have no doubts.

I have barely driven on them, just did a trip to Kosciuszko National Park & mostly on bitumen. The few dirt roads a 2wd car could manage. The tyres are noisier than the original tyres for the same age. But I feel they are pretty good for an AT tyre. Coming back to Sydney there is quite a few km of concrete highway road surface & this is a lot noisier than bitumen. So if you have or use a lot of concrete roads on a regular basis these tyres might be an issue. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

To add onto Lightwater's reply: I have had them on the car for almost a year now and after many trips on tarmac, gravel with bad corrugations and deep sand towing a 1.4 tonne Bushlapa caravan (laden with water and all other supplies) and can only recommend them highly.
Mine is not the latest Scorpion ATR as on Lightwater's car and I can testisfy that they run as quiet as the standard tyres (being Continentals).
We just returned from a 3 week trip up the West Coast (North of Lamberts Bay) and ran on 1 bar pressure through some very deep, hot sand with never the slightest hint of getting stuck (with the caravan behind).
If you want to go for a thorough vibration test then run these tyres at 2.5+ Bar on bad corrugations - they are, on the other hand like a magic carpet when deflated to round about 1.5 bar on bad gravel roads and moderate speed.
I can only highly recommend the change to the bigger rubber.

Well, I WAS going to go for the very same tire but I got a great deal on the 265/60R18!!
They fit, just. no rubbing and look great...

First day out but not in the wet yet. Quite suprised how quiet they are with that aggressive tread.

Looking at some 255 55 R18's tyres of and Isuzu MUX and the rim size shows JJ instead of J (buying tyres not rims)
Slight difference in radius's used
Any concern buying these? Not sure the tyres will know if they are on a J or JJ rim?

How well do these tyres last, what sort of mileage do they run to?
My General Grabber AT3 have done 43000 miles to date, planning on replacing them coming into next winter and while I'm a big fan of the GGs I might consider a change. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
