You ever had yours investigated Arese as to what might be causing it? Interesting how it is on the right-hand side of the car also for you. Wonder if that has any significance like is there additional items running through that pillar beside the seatbelt to cause the noise? Does anybody have an image of the B pillar with the plastic cover removed, please? Freelander 2 XS 2013

I'm still getting this annoying clicking sound from the B pillar. It went quiet for a while but it's come back again. After having a look on the Microcat site to see what the seat belt system is comprised of, to see if I could narrow down the cause. The only part that I could see to be the culprit is the height adjuster LR009119. A quick Google shows that it is a fairly inexpensive part ÂŁ20+/-. Before I go ahead and splash my cash has anybody had experience with rattling height adjusters and do you think it is a good idea to replace it please?
Arese I've had a rattle from behind my steering wheel. Turned out to be the plastic trim at the bottom of the instrument cluster. A gentle tap seems to fix it for me when it happens. Freelander 2 XS 2013 Freelander SE 2004 (Gone) Freelander GS 2002 (Gone) |

I had a rattle that I thought was from there but turned out to be from the rear door handle surround,I wedged it with an old credit card and trimmed it off with a craft knife it’s been fine ever since. |

It was the inside I had she who must be obeyed in the back while I drove round and she found it. |

Those SWIMBO's and their ears are something else aren’t they? I spent 18 months trying to cure a front brake squeak on my FL2 cleaning the pads, lubricating them, replacing them, cleaning them again, replacing them with another make, fitting new discs etc etc. One day when I was driving along and they started up again I told her all I had done and she said “that noise is coming from the back you cloth eared idiot!”. And so it was - the anti-rattle springs were fitted incorrectly! In my defence, I’d only been in the motor trade for 45 years. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Unfortunately I don't have one of those at my disposal. Looks like I'll have to live with the noise never knowing it's true source

Is this the well know a pillar noise. Knock/creak/click sound dependent on temp.

Thanks wurzel153 for the suggestion and thread link. I'm pretty sure it is from the B pillar but will have a bang around the A pillar when I hear it clicking to see if it has an effect. Freelander 2 XS 2013

Not heard of this on FL2 but it's a very common fault on the DS. Doing a search on the DS forum might give you some ideas - in most cases it's a faulty weld but others have reported fixes involving the door trim which could be relevant. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I am sure I saw as part of the extended service regime the seat belt anchorage point bolts need to be checked for tightness, never seen this on any other vehicle......might be worth a try before anything else? Regards

Thanks Past master, I will have a look on there. Cheers Boxbrownie, I'll check the bolts before buying a replacement height adjuster. Freelander 2 XS 2013 Freelander SE 2004 (Gone) Freelander GS 2002 (Gone) |
