I have the rotary "gearknob" and find it much easier to use than a traditional lever. From park, press brake and turn all the way clockwise without pushing it down and you are in drive. From drive press brake ,turn 2 clicks anti clockwise and your in reverse. From any gear switch engine off and knob goes to park automatically. No need to look at it which I always used to do with a normal gear lever! |

I shall relay your last sentence to my brother, who continually thinks that he has put it in park, only to find his creeping back towards the garage door as its not in P but in R instead. Personally, I think that he is going senile, but as I have a proper gearshift on mine, what would I know about it? MY13 HSE Lux.......faultless since new. |

I've got a block of wood which the front wheel stops up against & a strip on the floor about 15mm high just behind the tyre so the car sits in this position & can't roll back. One less time to use the handbrake everytime I park the car in the garage. Transmission is in park. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I've never used the parking brake in the 7 years that I've owned the vehicle. Was amazed 2 years ago at service time when I was told that my rear pads needed replacing....I'm still on factory fronts at 60k! MY13 HSE Lux.......faultless since new. |

With the rotary type gear knob when it goes into park it automatically applies the handbrake at the same time! |

I speced up the new DS on the landrover website to roughly what I have on my metropolis, it came to £52,700 . Seriously who is going to spend that on a wee car . You can get a Volvo XC90 cheaper. Land Rover certainly know how to kill the fatted cow. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |

On the latter point, I dunno. All seems well with mine after 8,000 miles in 5 months, it is still saying I have 13k miles to go to the next service. 2019 Discovery Sport Landmark in Corris Grey 2014 FL2 XS TD4 Manual - Gone at 93k miles - great car. |

Apparently, according to the dedicated website for this model, dealers have been quietly installing a software update which allows the oil dilution trigger threshold to be raised from 6% to 10%. Those that have had it done report no more early services (so far), however, whether their engine disintegrates after their warranty expires owing to the increased threshold is anybody's guess! Rather them than me that's for sure....... MY13 HSE Lux.......faultless since new. |
