Is it possible to fit a roofrack to my Fl2 HSE, it has the panorama glass sunroof? Had a look around the roof and there does not appear to be any means to do so. Anyone done it? Thanks.

If you talking the standard LR rails and crossbars then yes there are two different types, one for cars with the pan roof and one for cars without.

Each side there are two fittings ( under trim buttons that need to be eased out) at the rear portion of the roof trim cover, and one fixing at the front, but the front entails removing the trim piece and making a hole to go through to the captive nut in the roof at the front. Regards

You do need the panoramic roof version. But other than that they are the same. I installed my rails, actually twice due to our rough roads breaking a bolt. It's not difficult, but 2 people are better than 1 when putting it on the roof assembled, but not fully tightened. Take your time over the weekend & get the tools, not worth scratching the roof to save a few dollars. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thule do a very effective set of roof bars for the FL2 that do not require roof rails to be fitted and they work very well. I used them regularly with all 3 of mine, with or without sunroof

I only wish they could be fitted to the Fatty; the only option there is with the (breathtakingly expensive) roof rails and they are hopeless on the Fatty

As Tigger says those Thule bars will be some, if not the best aftermarket (and better than most OEM) bars available, and if your not worried about not having or wanting the LR side rails (like me, I think the FL2 looks cleaner without) are a great alternative. Regards

for fitting the clamp type roof bars, the ones that hook into the door frames, where is the recommended position for the front bar?

I know the rear bars should sit over the vertical window trim as apparently that point is the optimum for load bearing with non factory rails.

ive got a set of Pre Alpina bars fitted and have just fitted a roof box on but the box seems to sit way too far forward
