Jules, Think that is a little magnetic air temp indicator. I`m sure we had something like it stuck on the fridge door many many years ago!

I understand some manufacturers do not use a TPMS at the tyre valve, rather (like VW for some models) they get a sensor at the wheel to measure revolutions and any difference over a defined threshold will trigger an alarm - would explain dorsetfreelander's case with his buddy.

Agree with Lightwater, on a very hot day I have seen the pressure increase by 6 psi (from 35 to 41).

Hi Jules - yes that's a thermometer. A bit basic, I've since replaced it with a digital thermometer which also has a humidity readout.

Our Audi’s had TPMS derived from wheel revolutions, system worked well.......well the only one time it alarmed it worked well.

JLR have TPMS sensors in the valves inside the wheel rim, our last L322 was a bloody pain with them.....all renewed and even then they only worked when there was a “S” in the month it appeared, and even then it gave some spurious readings! Regards
