I understand some manufacturers do not use a TPMS at the tyre valve, rather (like VW for some models) they get a sensor at the wheel to measure revolutions and any difference over a defined threshold will trigger an alarm - would explain dorsetfreelander's case with his buddy.

Hi Jules - yes that's a thermometer. A bit basic, I've since replaced it with a digital thermometer which also has a humidity readout. |

Our Audi’s had TPMS derived from wheel revolutions, system worked well.......well the only one time it alarmed it worked well.
