update satnav disc

Hi
In a earlier post I was replacing my satnav screen which I have done now.
My son has bought me an updated disc from Satnavishop but before I load it I searched this site and there were a lot of posts on the subject, Some said just insert the disc and others have said it is best to do a hard reset with the battery cables as I don't want to mess my satnav up does anyone know the best way to do it as there are no instructions with the disc.
Thanks for any replies. Confused

Just power up the engine then change the disc. Wait for the satnav to return to normal. Could take a while if firmware out of date - otherwise very quick. Silver 2009 HSE

I updated mine with the 2019 disc from SatNav shop recently, vehicle turned on, disk changed, system started and immediately the system was live, no delay at all, to the fact that I wondered if it had even updated!

I assume it has and is running from the DVD, but it has been working well since (was OK before though) but not had a chance to traverse any routes I know would have been out of date as yet. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Hi
I just put the disc in and it must have updated so quick it looked the same so I tested it near where I live with a postcode and it shows no roundabout where there was one a year ago so it must have updated.

My guess is that due to age there will be no new firmware updates so it will just be a case of reading the map as needed. Mine was the same this year - instant use. Silver 2009 HSE

They take roundabouts away where you are? I thought the trend was the other way.....oh well, sounds like the disc is up to date, that’s good to hear Thumbs Up Regards

I bought a 2017-2018 disc from satnavdisc and this disc does contain newer updates. A road which was finished in 2015 is on it, it was not on the last disc of LR. I don't know where these shops get the updated maps, maybe from Volvo or Subaru discs. But I know at least some of these discs do contain updated maps.

got my disc from them yesterday, 2018-2019 maps, and replaced my genuine 2012-2013 disc.

No noticeable difference, however the one thing I definitely knew was wrong on the genuine disc was a roundabout on my way to work that is now a traffic lighted major crossroads (since about 8 years ago)... however I was still half asleep this morning and failed to check Whistle

Are we talking satnav shop here or satnav store please. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
