Tried the Mewant leather wrap for steering wheels. I liked the part perforated look and also thought that the Freely's steering wheel was on the thin side. Not being confident of my sewing skills I tried out the cheaper artificial leather version.




It turned out to be fairly easy to sew, but I wouldn't recommend the artificial leather version as it's pretty rough and felt abrasive on your hands after a while.







Might try the genuine leather version in the future.

Yes, me too......that looks good but any kind of “non perfect” finish would grate every time I climbed into the vehicle, just like when I look in the vanity mirror  Regards

I too was worried I would mess up the stitching..but it turned out to be quite easy. If you don't put enough glue (double sided tape) where your thumb normally rests - you'll have a bubble. Which drove me crazy and led to a second round of stitching..

Looking at getting my steering wheel redone, how much was this to get done as it looks really good, been quoted nearly £300 up in sunny Scotland.

Use the old one as a template & go to a saddler & get some horse's bum. That's where the leather is from! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
