from what ive seen on here the durability of the aftermarket sets is very variable. powder coating coming off, water ingress under the seams causing the coating to bubble and bars to salt corrode etc etc.

Someone in London on ebay is selling some OE ones for £90 if thats of any help. I believe thre are two different types of OE roof rails depending on if the car has a sunroof. OE cross bars have a very wide profile and many U clamps wont fit. I bought Thule cross bars with clamps to fit the OE rails and they work very well, but I underestimated the height to which i would have to raise the bikes too, i only did this once and then bought a bike carrier for the caravan rather than trying to put the bikes on the roof my freelander a second time.

Thanks but ordered a set of the aftermarket ones already. Well aware of the height, used to put the bikes onto of my Discovery 2! Just easier to carry 4 bikes than load them in the van and really only able to put 2 on a towbar carrier when caravan attached. I'll report how I get on.
