I had to pop in to my local Hellfrauds for some coolant this morning. When I was given my receipt, I was given a voucher, which entitles you to a £10 MOT at any Autocentre until May 2020 - the only caveat is that you MUST BOOK by 26th June this year.

Don’t think I’d chance it, sure it’s a good deal but the chance of them finding an issue is high I’d say (call me a cynic I know), maybe they’d like to repair the issue as well ..........TBH I’d prefer to pay full price for the test but have it done by a specialist (who also services/repairs the vehicle and has an interest in it passing first time) who can look at the vehicle first and guarantee a pass, thus keeping the MoT record clean and squeaky looking for resale.

I think I will stick to my local MOT garage which I trust, for the sake of saving £25. |

Best way to look at it. For the sake of a tenner....(or less, in your individual case) |

But if it failed the test regardless of timing surely it will be on the DVLC data base when searched for as an MoT history check?

Why bother crawling about under your car to check suspension, exhaust system etc when someone will do it with all the right equipment for nothing? |

Just for a bit of info, here’s my mot stats for the last month. You can see the national averages on the right against mine on the left. Averages - what do they really show? What, no tyre failures!

Don’t be daft....I’m not the one going to be crawling under the car My local garage will do the pre MoT inspection check for free, and I trust them to find stuff if it really needs doing, I pay the full price for the test (£50 they charge presently) and no doubt they get a cut from the test centre whatever the discount is. Regards David Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me...... Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again...... |
