Disabling auto stop/start

Other than remembering to press the Off button every time I get in, has anyone successfully disabled the Auto Stop/Start other than using a trailer plug? is there a hack for it for example? I just hate it.

I bought an SD4, that got rid of it permanently. Very Happy Jules

There's a switch on the clutch pedal somewhere , that when unplugged disables it. Then when you press the button on the dash , it just says stop / start fault when this switch is disconnected. I know this because when I had my clutch pedal replaced the switch got disconnected and I am going to the garage again tomorrow since it fell out again . I might have knocked it when I was putting some grease on the pedal linkages and springs, since it was creaking slightly ! Don't know if having this switch permanently disconnected will do any harm ??

Thanks Dean, I'll mention this when it goes in for a service. In time muscle memory 'should' enable me to press the button everytime I get in but your suggestion is tempting.

Switch plugged back in again now, so I switch it off manually...not a big problem. Creaking pedal is really annoying since brand new pedal was only fitted in January . Poor quality components !

Sorry for resurrection this thread but my recent experience may be of interest. Thumbs Up
After putting the battery back in my motor went out for the day and realized the stop start function was not working.
Thought it just required time to reset so ignored it as everything else was working OK.
Next day, still not working so went to check the battery and realized I hadn't reconnected the plug that runs across the top of the battery.
Plugged it back it, stop start function working again. Embarassed
I assume this connection tells the ecu what charge is in the battery and therefore enables or disables the function accordingly.
Therefore if its unplugged it assumes low battery and disables stop start function.
All other systems appear to work. Very Happy
I'm no expert but if you want to try it, its at your own risk. Whistle Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
