I've been reading up on the financial benefits of fitting cross climates.
Does anyone have experience of using them on a freelander 2 ?

Currently have the Continental cross contact lx sport 235 55 19 all season tyres on pur 2011 sd4. Verry happy with them. 'per aspera ad astra'

I think there are quite a few forum members with Michelin Cross Climates. So someone will be able to actually answer your question for sure. They are undoubtedly very good but also one of the most expensive tyres can you buy. Jules

Got them, good tyres but may not last as long as I would have hoped but the previous WRANGLERS did not go much more than 25K. I do not run tyres to last mm though. Mine came at a reasonable cost but just before a price hike so no idea if now too expensive. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Ran CC on my Forester for many years; found to be a good all weather tyre although I'm in SE London so there may be someone in more rural areas that has better experience of deep snow, mud and such.
Got decent life out of them. Not the cheapest about although companies such as Black Circles offered discounts for buying 4/5 tyres.

I have recently put Cross Climates on my TD4 SE Tech so 235/55/19

Initial thoughts are they grip well on both wet and dry roads.

They are generally very quiet but on super smooth dry surfaces (like where the tar has all come to the surface on a surface dressed raod) they can sound like the road is wet.

Haven't yet had any snow to try them with and haven't done enough miles to comment on wear.

I fitted a set of Michelin Cross Climates a couple of weeks ago. They are by far the quietest tyres I have experienced on my FL2. I have previously had Wranglers and Scorpion Verde on this and my previous FL2 covering a period of 9 years and these seem much more grippy on both wet and dry roads so I'm very pleased so far. They are reputed to be good in snow, although I can't yet vouch for that.
They also came at a very good price from a local well-known tyre depot who were giving about £50 off when buying four until Jan 31st so worth shopping around as they were cheaper than Blackcircles , Camskill etc!

Agree with most of the above but now mine are worn I suspect they are skating a little on white lines (had a lot worse on BMW's with run flats). They have done 22,250 miles and are down around 4 to 5 mm. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I had read the Cross Climates when new have barely 7mm of tread, so maybe they won’t last as long as others? Regards

My thoughts exactly, about to order a set of new boots, most likely Michelin Latitude Cross (not the Cross Climates) as they seem to get rave user reviews and according to the Michelin site have their “mud plugging” technology along with the three mountain snow rating but are excellent on road......hmmm......if it was any other manufacturer than Michelin I’d be inclined to dismiss the claims, but.

My local tyre place couldn’t source them (apparently not easily available here) but I can get them from Mytyres and they have a local place in Looe which is a fitting agent, so may all be coming together.

Just wish I could find some decent independent reviews. Regards

I’m running the Michelin Latitude Sports (not Cross) now and they make a very passable summer tyre, with superb rim protection but, alas, there’s no 3 peak symbol and they are only rated as summer tyres. Their tread would indicate very marginal M+S capability and I’ll be using these for summer use only. I’ll be going back to the Verdi All Seasons, which are superbly versatile and surprisingly snow capable - I was the last thing moving on Bodmin moor when the snow came in February
