Have removed the oil separator with the intention to give it a good clean. So much oil in all the breather and air intake lines. Anyone else done this? Like other oil separators I've seen the LR unit seems sealed so can be cleaned only by pouring in cleaning solution and tipping it out! Was going to start with petrol followed by hot soapy water then a good blast of hot air to dry it out. Any advice/thoughts?

Yeah...the water was as much to ensure there was no petrol left in there as to clean the oil out. 2010 FL2 TD4 GS |

Flush with a bit of diesel not water. Can you tie it to a rope and swirl it over your head like a centrifuge, or would that coverr your neighours in diesel? At work |

Done today....using petrol as that's what I had handy. Actually, despite appearances, the unit did not seem that dirty and ran clear after a couple of flushes. 2010 FL2 TD4 GS |

That because there is another (real) oil separator in the lower part of the engine, near the oil filler tube. ![]() |

Care to share some other useful (real) information like picture/link because I find nothing else searching for oil separator on a FL2 with Ford Duratorq engine. ![]() |

None of these items should get sludged up though, be pretty alarming if they did. |

Sorry if I sounded condescending, but if you would have taken the service manual from here on forum and studied it a little, you would have understood what I've meant...
