DSC light on and impending MOT

Hi guys, new here and just done my introduction in the welcome section.

The wife's Freelander 2 has a DSC orange warning light on and the MOT is almost due. I realise I'll have to borrow my neighbours diagnostic tool and see what it says, but suspect it's something to do with the Haldex. I did change the oil and filter in it a year ago and it was absolutely gunged up. To be honest I don't know how good my cleaning out was as I did it in situ. Pretty shocking for something within a LR drivetrain. The light came on about 3 months after I changed out the fluid and filter in the Haldex and coincidentally the rear axle has also always had a bit of a whine. So both will probably need to be done. I have rebuilt back axles before but I'm no expert, and the LR one looks a bit of a ballache. With the Haldex also probably needing a pump I'm considering getting someone to do it.

I did hear of a garage with nearby B&B in the midlands who you could book into to get this work done. Anybody heard about this, and have the details?

the DSC light might be something as simple as an ABS or other sensor as I believe the DSC works from the wheel sensors amongst others. Definitely worth getting the codes read to be sure.

for the Haldex service its http://www.bellengineering.co.uk/

welcome to this mad forum, you will love it Laughing

RogB thanks for the reply. A wheel sensor would be great and cheap fix. My 'Special Programs' haven't been working for the same period the lights been on. To be honest I'm not too bothered about the Special Programs, as the four wheel drive is certainly working. Would the Special Programs be affected/made inoperative by a faulty wheel speed sensor?

I've certainly heard of Bell engineering and that they are good on transmission issues, but I also heard of another specialist closer to me (a mere three hundred miles or so) that provide a drive in/drive out service with close by B&B. Stupidly I never wrote down the details.

Three weeks ago I had a replacement hip fitted. My other cars are off the road at the moment (all older vehicles) and am replacing the air suspension bags on my Merc, and other work for an approaching MOT. Bloody awkward with a KOed leg Laughing Hopefully I'll get the Mercedes work done over the next couple of days to let my wife use that, and I'll get the Freelander in to replace a lower wishbone and investigate the light Thumbs Up Typical that all three of our cars need an MOT within two weeks of one another and my hip op was available to confuse matters at the same time.
