As for the Iridium Plugs......same as fitted to the RX350 in fact, so maybe Volvo learnt something....chicken and egg? Laughing

For reference the Iridium plugs that I am using are the Iridium TT (Twin Tip) variety and they have only been available from Denso for the past few years.

If I am being completely honest the single tip Iridium Denso plugs probably would have worked just as well for the Hilux.

And as you correctly pointed out the single tip Iridium plugs are OEM on the Freelander 2 and the RX350 (Long life version with slightly thicker center electrode as compared to the graph above)

Note: I change my plugs every 50,000 miles and I am at 117,000 when I get to 150,000 I am switching to Denso Iridium TT

I am using Denso Iridium TT plugs on my Audi 2.0T but that discussion is off topic.

Good luck with the purchase

Paul

That’s how Mercedes got their reputation for bullet proof vehicles back in the 70’s.........dealers were told by MB when cars come in for regular service if ANYTHING requires repair/replacing don’t tell the owner just fix it FOC.....that’s why you get the “I had my merc for ten years and only ever had it serviced” clever stuff, and back then worth its weight in gold. Regards

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

I had an i6 in Oz for 7 years without any problems.
Ended up selling it to a good mate, something I wouldn’t do if it was problematic.
I now have an SD4 FL2 and I much prefer the smoothness of the i6 engine... and the bigger brakes too!

Well we did it........actually the car was better than it looked in the pictures, and we wouldn't have travelled 7 hours to view if it hadn't looked pretty in the first place.

Just a couple of small "parking" scrapes on the car (front bumper side mark showing a bit of black plastic, rear wheel arch paint rubbed, nice easy fixes) the reat of the body is all about spotless, no ASDA door dinks, no greenery scratches, no cracks in any lamps, really pleased.

Interior is absolutely spotless, the light leather is not even stained/dirty and the interior has not got that "used car dealer" high gloss shine all over it, to be honest I don't believe the dealer even hoovered that car, it has that feeling of being looked after and cleaned regulary by the owner, very pleased again.

There are a couple of things we have issues with, test drive revealed a noisy (I think) diff which drones/grumbles above 50-60 mph and a bit of a jolt upon kickdown (I reckon that's low/dirty fluid, needs changing anyway 110K).

Moaned about the diff and got a good chunk knocked off the price for that, also the spare was missing so a new one was bought from the local LR dealer and fitted in the trunk (not by us, the dealer) before we left.

I budgeted I reckon 6-700 for the diff at our local LR specialist (if not it's a day trip to Worcester), of course the rear grumble might be just wheel bearing, not sure yet but I have my suspicions it's diff.

Other than that the car drove really well, felt nice and tight, brakes immediate and smooth, engine is almost silent and gives a lovely growl when pushed a bit, nice......and the first 4X4 which will "chirp" the tyres on accel from zero, must be careful of that until diff/tranny is sorted though.

The whole car as a package is exactly what we wanted so TBH even if it costs us a bit to make it "our perfect" it'll be well worth it to us.

Side steps are a pain though, thought they might be a good idea down here as the local hedgerows aren't leaves they are 'kin GRANITE......but the steps do make ingress/egress a bit of a pain, jurys out. Regards

David

Oh yes, and on the way home taking it steady on the Mway/A-Roads we got an indicated 29mpg overall, that's over 320miles, I thought that pretty good and only a smidge less than we got with our FFRR 3.6V8 Diesel. Regards
