Heated steering wheel is a comfort and also makes it safer, I have arthritis in my hands and the heated steering wheel makes it easier for my hands to move, very painful when cold so not pointless at all.

Feel a bit guilty posting this as after several months of looking whilst SWMBO was driving my D4 I managed to find a one owner low mileage FLRSH HSE auto with heated steering wheel back in September at Harwoods in Basingstoke, even got 2 years LR Approved Used warranty on it. I found it on t'interweb on a Sunday afternoon, took it for a test drive & bought it on Monday, dealer took it in on the previous Friday so in stock for 3 days...

It's a great car & SWMBO loves it.

Anyone who poo poos heated steering wheels has never had one! - I thought I'd never use the one on my D4 but it gets plenty of use now.

If you're struggling to find the right car at the right price, and it's the heated steering wheel you want more than any of the other HSE toys, you could think about buying a good quality post-2013 XS or even a GS and retrofit the heated steering wheel - it's been done on here and there are a couple of forum threads on it. It's simply plug and play once you've sourced the parts. Could save you a lot of cash!

The heated wheel was really the only thing missing from the FL2 I bought, but in the end decided I could live without it. Still thinking about doing the heated wheel upgrade though - nearly bought a steering wheel on here for £85 a couple of months back but someone else (no names, Vanny...) beat me to it.

When I started looking at buying a Freelander 2 a heated steering wheel was not top of the list of must haves but the first time I used it on a freezing cold morning all became clear... we all need a heated steering wheel  94 Disco 300 TDI Gone
