I forget the name but I was considering a similar solar powered TPMS because you could add extra sensors for a trailer or caravan which I thought would be useful. It recorded both tyre pressure and temperature and had an audible alarm to warn of pressure loss. As my new car now has TPMS I could just get a cheap system and fit the sensors to my trailer and caravan instead I suppose. I`m away to have a search on Ebay! |

Get a second setup for a trailer so you can set the pressure warning at a different level. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I live near the M5 going south past Bristol. From what I see, a TPMS is more necessary for the Caravan/Trailer than the car.

This system shows tyre temp too and has for tyre pressure accuracy it's bang on. Only got it because when leaving home for work and returning home it's always dark so tend not to notice a near flat tyres and I nearly lost a tyre/wheel few weeks back. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

I destroyed a tyre in remote north west Australia, with only one more spare at the next town bought TPMS. We got 3 more flat tyres for the remainder of the trip which I plugged before any damage was done. TPMS well & truely paid for itself. Even more so in the outback as it can cost thousands to get a new tyre & then you have to get it on the rim when you are stuck beyond the black stump. Hinchy, looked at these on eBay, cheap no doubt and I am interested, however I guess the TPM caps just replace the valve covers, but what are the 4 nuts for?

You tighten the nut back up against the transmitter so it locks it on so it is less likely to come off.

Read a review of one of these kits that found after a few months that the little nuts corroded and seized onto the valve threads making it a sod to get off to inflate tyre.

How do they work ? Do these pick up the signals from the original TPMS sensors in late (2014) FL2 ? Jules |

The 4 nuts are locking nuts when you screw the new valve caps on replacing the old dust caps. The value caps have a battery in each of them, the same battery type you have in a fob. Each cap is mark up to correspond for each wheel. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green MY57 SE Stornoway Grey. Gone Nissan X Trail Discovery V8 LPG Series II Land Rover |

Lightwater, I have a slow leak on one of the tires for my Volvo S80 It could be the TPMS. What do you recommend I change and how is it done? Can i just let the air out of the tire and rebuild the O-ring etc or do I need to remove the tire to get to the sensor? Any help is greatly appreciated. For reference I am loosing about 0.5 PSI per day. So I need to fill the tire every other weekend or the warning will come on. Thanks Paul |

We are using the external sensors, & when it is screwed on it presses in the valve pin to pressurise the sensor.
