United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

Panoramic glass roof, privacy glass, Meridian speakers blah blah...…..yawn.... OK if you want such things then all well and good to get them thrown in for our £59Grand.
I would however have been much more interested if they had produced an anniversary Utlility grade D5 - much as Toyota do with the Utility Landcruiser. Strip out some of the electronic toys, give it a set of wheels for off road use, trim the spec back a bit and pretend it is aimed at the customers who used to buy and love Land Rovers...….

Just had a dip into the LR Disco 5 web site to see what they were doing to convince me that this was the sort of vehicle I referred to.
I quote as an example - "An Ebony finisher on the door and instrument panel adds crafted detail to create an air of cultured modern living and your own individual space."
What crap! What are these people on?
For fiddles sake Censored , I do not want my car to create cultured modern living and my own individual space.
I want it NOT TO BREAK DOWN and I want it to have modest running costs...….
Is that too much to ask?

Is someone with a 12 year old Freelander really going to consider spending 60k or so on a brand new Disco 5 or just knock it for the sake of having a go at JLR? Whistle

Nice find Tigger

The last of the proper Land Rovers - not a fan of the Disco 5 Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Tell me about it Rolling Eyes

I’ve got a D5 loaner again for a few days and while I’m grateful for the loaner, I struggle to see the appeal.

I’ve got a soft spot for the Disco 2. It’s a good looking and properly practical and has that huge glasshouse and low waste line that was carried over to the ‘3, while it had the great dip on one side of the rear window and a good reason for not having a split tailgate (to make it cheaper than the RR that it was closely based on) Thumbs Up

There’s a really strong link in styling all the way from the D1, through the ‘2 all the way to the end of the Discovery production in 2016 Wink
