Total Justification!

People have questioned me as to why I bought a 4x4, including my neighbour who has a new Jaguar XF.

This morning I got my answer, he tried reversing up hill his shared drive, with 7" of snow on the ground and RWD. Everytime he went to reverse the car went forwards!

So I attach him to my Freelander 2 with a tow rope, which when in position was also pointing up hill, put the terrain responce into snow mode and with considerable ease pulled him up his drive, without him using any power!!!

It was so cool!!! In know, little things and little minds:D

o a 4x4 makes perfect sense for 3 days a year!!! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I almost made a Censored of myself, but thankfully the TR and TC are ace

Stopped part way up a hill to ask a stuck car if they needed help, but they said they were OK, went to start again, and all 4 wheels spun, kept my foot down and the TC kicked in and car started to move away nicely, and off I went.

I thought for a second, I was going to look like an idiot.

Had to pick up collegues on the way into work, running the work bus service, throughly enjoyed it though.

So glad I bought the FL2. Cool

I can understand forum members not disclosing their exact location, but to place it on the other side of the world or even in the wrong country, is not a joke - it is deception. The whole point of having a members map is to give a picture as a whole where Freelys are located, which might be of interest or benefit to some people. By damaging the picture as a whole, you are contributing to the forum becoming unserious (not counting off topic subjects of course). Whistle

If you don't want to disclose your location, put it on your dealers location. Your car is there half of the time anyway Laughing

Its an interesting question. For some years now, I have been critical of 4x4s for urban use. However, I am having to redefine my perspective. I have had a BMW320 D for 4 years (BMW was always a dream make for me). However, as my kids grow, I now need more rear legroom. Unfortunately, I can not stand the 'new' Seris 5. Find Mercedes too 'bling', and on the continent (where I now live and often travel), they are the most common car used for taxis. Test drove the Audi A6 yesterday. Very disappointing (2.7d Quattro tiptronic). Drove the Jag XF. Very nice, but can't take a roof box for holidays, and though a beautiful car, still don't think its 'me'. The only car I have driven and thought 'wow' in is the Freelander 2 TD4. It has all the luxury, options, gimmicks, etc of a luxury car, plus the extra abilities of a 4X4. With a 2.2 L diesel, it doesn't match the power of others, but I'm not a speed freak anyway.

The automatic TD4 is superb (nearly matches the XF, and better than the A6). However, to ease my conscience regarding environmental impact, I will need to go for the manual. The auto does 224 gCO2/km, but the upcoming manual only 179 gCO2/km, which is similar or less than the other cars mentioned. It has an auto stop/start feature for standing traffic. I'ver never yearned for an automatic, and like the sense of being more in control (as many others do). The car also claims to be carbon neutral, both in its manufacture and by offseting the first 75,000 km. Carbon offsetting is b*llsh*t, but its an answer to some critics. The biggest problem from cars is smog (nothing to do with CO2). With the diesel particle filter and stop/start feature, I'm satisfied the car is cleaner than many standard family cars.

.........What does our Site Moderator have to say about this Question

The members map is there for location if you wish to use it, there is nothing to say that you have to give your exact location down to the house number.

Many forum members use it showing where they are working, especially if they travel around the world. Personally i show my village not street

I would be nice to have at least the correct country or chapel, but at the end of the day its up to the member Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
