Hey guys!

Long time lurker and first time poster as I've (hopefully) got something interesting to share.

This is an install of a 10.2" Dasaita universal head-unit in the top portion of dashboard.
- The head-unit was chosen because it's TEN INCHES but with a single din slot.
- The top portion was chosen because I felt that normal radio slot was just too far below eye level.
- It does stick out a bit but it's actually a good thing as it's now within arms reach of a normal driving position.

The unit just fits between the air vents in the faceplate and the space behind should also just fit.
* I did buy a spare faceplate (as you see in the photos) as some cutting was required - the wife would have killed me otherwise!

Having connected just the power, the unit functions quite well.
However, could anyone recommend a cable or adapter that I can connect it to the car's cable?

It uses a 18/20 pin connector and the wiring diagram is included in the photos below.
The unit came with a 20pin-> ISO connector (female), and I bought a Freelander 2 -> ISO (male) - but the unit didn't receive power. I'm not sure if it was the constant or accessory lines but the unit didn't get power.
If there's an off the shelf solution it'd be really helpful rather to sit with wiring diagram and a crimping tool.

Just wanted to say hi Matt your question is way beyond my pay grade but there are quite a few on here who will be happy to help.

And if anyone has any suggestions with what to do with the double din space below where the old stereo is please let me know!

If I understand correctly you're basically replacing the standard head unit with a new one yes? If so, you're in a for a bit of pain. You'll need to buy a kit with various cables, converters, amp bypass cables etc and you may lose your sub in the boot. Think it's more than £200.

Do a search for head unit replacement and there's a fair few posts, most of which end up pointing back to 1 or 2 useful threads. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎

Here you go. Assuming your head unit is either the mid-line or premium (in other words it says Alpine somewhere, normally the front door speaker grilles), you need this:

Hi Matt, this is exactly what I’m looking for for my freelander2. I currently have a pioneer sph120 fitted with the incartech kit, so will be watching this thread with interest.

Finally finished up this project!

A couple of things added -
> Reverse camera
> Steering wheel controls
> On/off switch

Despite my best efforts I couldn't find a line to connect it so that it turns on when the key is in, only when the engine is switched on - hence the on/off switch.
